Senior project engineer — C# / .NET (measurement & automation)
Soliton Technologies, a product and engineering company with deep expertise in Test & Measurement and Semiconductor domains, is hiring Senior Project Engineers with strong C# and .NET skills across three of India's major tech cities — Bangalore, Coimbatore, and Chennai. This is a rare opportunity to work on technically demanding, real-world engineering software rather than generic enterprise applications.
In this role, you will design, develop, and deliver software solutions that interface with hardware systems, measurement instruments, and automation frameworks — primarily in domains like semiconductor testing, industrial automation, and precision measurement. You will work alongside domain experts and application engineers to build tools that directly impact how engineers test and validate hardware in the field.
The role is well-suited for developers with 2 to 5 years of C#/.NET experience who are excited by the intersection of software and engineering hardware, enjoy solving technically complex problems, and are comfortable working in structured Agile teams. Candidates from Coimbatore or Chennai who prefer not to relocate to Bangalore will find this role particularly attractive, as openings exist across all three locations.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain C#/.NET applications for Measurement, Automation, and Semiconductor testing domains
- Build desktop and service-layer applications using .NET Framework or .NET Core / .NET 6+
- Develop interfaces and drivers to communicate with hardware instruments (GPIB, USB, LAN, RS-232)
- Write modular, testable code following object-oriented design principles and SOLID guidelines
- Collaborate with application engineers and hardware teams to translate requirements into software solutions
- Create and maintain unit tests, integration tests, and automated test scripts
- Participate in Agile sprint planning, retrospectives, and code reviews
- Debug, profile, and optimise existing .NET application performance
- Document technical designs, APIs, and system architecture for internal and client use
- Support deployment, configuration, and post-release issue resolution in production environments
Requirements
Must-have
- 2–5 years of professional software development experience using C# and .NET
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP), design patterns, and SOLID principles
- Proficiency in .NET Framework and/or .NET Core (5/6/7/8)
- Experience building Windows desktop applications (WinForms or WPF) or backend services
- Ability to read, debug, and refactor existing C# codebases effectively
- Familiarity with SQL databases — writing queries, stored procedures, basic schema design
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments with sprint-based delivery
- Good communication skills and comfort working in cross-functional teams
Good to have
- Exposure to National Instruments (NI) ecosystems — LabVIEW, NI-DAQ, NI-VISA, TestStand
- Experience with hardware communication protocols — GPIB, USB TMC, RS-232, Ethernet/LAN
- Knowledge of Measurement & Automation or Semiconductor test software development
- Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, or similar tools for version control and CI/CD
- Experience with multithreading, async/await patterns, and real-time data processing in C#
- Knowledge of Python or C++ as a secondary language

Frequently asked questions
What does Soliton Technologies actually build with C# and .NET?
Soliton builds engineering-grade software in the Test & Measurement and Semiconductor domains. In practice, this means writing C# applications that control and communicate with lab instruments (like oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies), automate test sequences for semiconductor devices, and process measurement data for analysis and reporting. It is not typical enterprise or web application development — it sits at the intersection of software engineering and hardware automation.
Can I apply for this role from Coimbatore or Chennai, or do I need to be in Bangalore?
You can apply regardless of which of the three cities you are in. Soliton Technologies has offices in Bangalore, Coimbatore, and Chennai, and this role is open across all three locations. Candidates based in Coimbatore or Chennai who do not want to relocate to Bangalore can specifically mention their preferred office location in their application.
What is the salary range for a Senior C#/.NET Developer at Soliton Technologies?
Soliton has not publicly disclosed the salary for this role. Based on the 2–5 years experience requirement and the Indian market for C#/.NET engineers in Bangalore and Chennai, the estimated range is ₹6–12 LPA. Coimbatore-based roles may be slightly lower on the scale. Candidates with domain knowledge in Test & Measurement or Semiconductor software may be eligible for higher offers.
Do I need LabVIEW or NI experience to apply?
No. LabVIEW and NI ecosystem experience are listed as preferred, not required. If you have strong C# and .NET fundamentals and a genuine interest in working on engineering software, you are encouraged to apply even without prior T&M domain experience. Soliton is known for training engineers in domain-specific tools after joining.
Is this a product role or a services/consulting role?
Soliton operates in both areas — they build their own internal tools and platforms while also delivering engineering software services to global clients. As a Senior Project Engineer, you are likely to work on client-facing engineering projects, meaning your code directly impacts real products being built by companies in automotive, aerospace, or semiconductor industries worldwide.
What is the interview process for C#/.NET roles at Soliton Technologies?
Soliton's interview process for engineering roles typically includes a technical screening round covering C# fundamentals and OOP concepts, a coding round (often involving .NET-specific design questions or a small take-home task), and a technical interview with the engineering team. Domain-specific questions about automation or measurement software may be asked at the senior stage. Preparing OOP design patterns, async programming in C#, and SOLID principles is highly recommended.
Is this role open for candidates with a non-IT background, such as Electronics or ECE graduates?
Yes, this is one of the rare software roles where an Electronics or ECE background can be a genuine advantage. Soliton's domain involves hardware-interfacing software and semiconductor test systems — fields where understanding circuits, instruments, and signal flow is directly relevant. ECE graduates with strong C# or software development skills from projects or internships are particularly encouraged to apply.
